इस मंदिर की वास्तुकला और शिल्प कला देखते ही बनती है। इसी प्रकार की शिल्प कला आपको कैलाश मंदिर एलोरा महाराष्ट्र में दिखाई पड़ती है। 

 कैलाशनाथर मंदिर, कांचीपुरम में स्थित एक हिन्दू मंदिर है। यह शहर के पश्चिम दिशा में स्थित यह मंदिर कांचीपुरम का सबसे प्राचीन और दक्षिण भारत के सबसे शानदार मंदिरों में एक है। इस मंदिर को 6वी शताब्दी में पल्लव वंश के राजा राजसिम्हा ने अपनी पत्नी की प्रार्थना पर बनवाया था। कैलाशनाथर, मंदिर एक ऐसा मंदिर है जिसमें विद्वानों व शोध छात्रों की विशेष रुची रहती है। एक एक मूर्ति का गहन अध्ययन किया गया है तथा इन पर कई पुस्तकें भी लिखी गयी हैं। 

उन्होंने इस मंदिर का इतना महिमा मंडन किया है। कांचीपुरम के कैलाशनाथ मंदिर की चिंतन गुफाओं अथवा ध्यान मंदिरों के विषय में मैंने पढ़ा था तथा उनके चित्र भी देखे थे। किन्तु मैंने कल्पना नहीं की थी कि मंदिर के समक्ष ही ऐसी ८ गुफाएँ मुझे पंक्तिबद्ध दिखेंगी। वे ऐसी प्रतीत हो रही थीं मानों मंदिर के समक्ष दीवार बन कर खड़ी हों। मुख्य मंदिर के समक्ष ये ८ गुफाएं वास्तव में ८ छोटे मंदिर हैं जिनके भीतर शिवलिंग स्थापित हैं।

Amazing Supernatural Temple is built on seeing the architecture and craftsmanship of this temple. You can see similar craftsmanship in Kailash Temple Ellora Maharashtra. Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu temple located in Kanchipuram. Located in the west direction of the city, this temple is one of the oldest temples of Kanchipuram and one of the most magnificent temples in South India. This temple was built in the 6th century by Raja Rajsimha of the Pallava dynasty at the prayer of his wife. Kailashanathar, the temple is a temple in which scholars and research students are specially interested. One idol has been studied deeply and many books have also been written on them. He has glorified this temple so much. I had read about the contemplation caves or meditation temples of Kailashnath temple in Kanchipuram and saw their pictures. But I did not imagine that I would see such 4 such caves in front of the temple. She seemed as if she was standing in front of the temple as a wall. These 4 caves are actually 4 small temples in front of the main temple, inside which the Shivling is installed.
