माता सती के 51 शक्तिपीठों की इस श्रृंखला में आज हम जानेंगे ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ के बारे में जहां माता की जिह्वा गिरी थी-
ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ को भगवती जवाला माता को समर्पित माना जाता है और यह एक प्रमुख हिंदू तीर्थ स्थल है। इसे भारतीय साहित्य, धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं में महत्वपूर्ण स्थान दिया गया है।
ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ का महत्व प्राचीन पौराणिक कथाओं में सुनाया जाता है। यहां पर भगवती जवाला माता के पावन अग्नि कुण्ड का स्थान है, जिसमें सदैव प्रज्ज्वलित अग्नि होती है। इसी कारण इसे ‘अनादि ज्वाला मंदिर’ भी कहा जाता है।
ज्वालाजी माता का ध्यान और पूजन विशेष शक्ति, साहस, और समृद्धि की प्राप्ति के लिए माना जाता है। यहां भक्तों की आस्था और श्रद्धा का अभिव्यक्ति होता है और वे माँ जवाला के आशीर्वाद की कामना करते हैं।
ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ के प्रति लाखों श्रद्धालु उत्साहित होते हैं और वे यहां आकर अपने मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति के लिए पूजा-अर्चना करते हैं। यहां प्रतिवर्ष बहुतायत मेले भी आयोजित किए जाते हैं, जो ज्यादातर उत्तर भारत के रहने वाले लोगों को आकर्षित करते हैं।
जवालजी शक्तिपीठ में माँ जवालाजी की जिह्वा गिरी थी। जिसका नाम “ज्योति” है, जिसे प्राकृतिक धारा के रूप में पूजा जाता है। इस अंग के गिरने के बाद, एक प्राकृतिक ज्वाला अग्नि धारा का उत्पन्न होना माना जाता है, जो अब भी ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ के मंदिर में प्रज्ज्वलित है।
यह घटना भगवती माँ के आदि रूप की महत्वपूर्ण कथा में से एक है।
पौराणिक कथा ( ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ )
सुगंधा शक्तिपीठ की पौराणिक कथा भारतीय पुराणों में प्रसिद्ध है। यह कथा माँ सती और उनके पति भगवान शिव के बीच के एक घटना से जुड़ी है। एक बार माँ सती की पुण्यजन्मिनी बनारस में एक अग्नियज्वाला के रूप में प्रकट हुईं।
उन्होंने अपने पिता राजा दक्ष के आयोजित यज्ञ में अपने पति को जाने की इच्छा व्यक्त की, लेकिन उन्हें यज्ञ स्थल पर प्रवेश करने की अनुमति नहीं थी। इस पर माँ सती ने अपनी आत्मा को जल चढ़ाने का कार्य किया और अपने शरीर को भस्म कर दिया।
भगवान शिव ने जब इसके बारे में जाना, तो वे बहुत दुःखी हो गए और उन्होंने माँ सती के शरीर को अपने कंधों पर ले लिया। और पूरे ब्रह्मांड का भ्रमण करने लगे इसे देख भगवान विष्णु ने अपने सुदर्शन से माता सती के शरीर के टुकड़े कर दिये और जहां जहां माता के शरीर के अंग गिरे वहीं एक शक्तिपीठ स्थापित हो गया।
माता की जिह्वा हिमाचल प्रदेश में गिरी और यहाँ ज्वालाजी शक्तिपीठ स्थापित हुआ। माता का यह शक्ति जलती हुई ज्वाला के रूप में है।
मुग़लिया आक्रांताओं ने माता की इस ज्वाला को बुझाने के अनेक प्रयत्न किए लेकिन उनको हमेशा मुँह की खानी पड़ी।
एक बार अकबर ने माता के इस शक्तिपीठ की ज्वाला को बुझाने के लिए यहाँ पर लपटों को लोहे की चादर से ढक दिया लेकिन ये प्रयास भी विफल रहा। ज्वाला की लपटें बुझाने के लिए पानी भी डाला गया लेकिन मुग़लिया आक्रांताओं के सभी प्रयास विफल रहे।

Jwalaji Shaktipeeth is considered to be dedicated to Bhagwati Jwala Mata and it is a major Hindu pilgrimage site. It has been given an important place in Indian literature, religious and cultural traditions.
The importance of Jwalaji Shaktipeeth is narrated in ancient mythology. Here is the place of the holy fire pit of Bhagwati Jwala Mata, in which there is always a burning fire. For this reason it is also called ‘Anadi Jwala Mandir’.
Meditation and worship of Jwalaji Mata is believed to attain special power, courage, and prosperity. Here the faith and devotion of the devotees is expressed and they wish for the blessings of Maa Jwala.
Millions of devotees are excited about Jwalaji Shaktipeeth and they come here and worship to fulfill their wishes. Many fairs are also organized here every year, which mostly attract people living in North India.
The tongue of Maa Jawalaji fell in Jawalaji Shaktipeeth. Whose name is “Jyoti”, which is worshipped as a natural stream. After the fall of this organ, a natural flame Agni Dhara is believed to have arisen, which is still burning in the temple of Shaktipeeth.
This incident is one of the important stories of the original form of Bhagwati Maa.
Mythology
The legend of Sugandha Shaktipeeth is famous in Indian Puranas. This story is associated with an incident between Maa Sati and her husband Lord Shiva. Once the virtuous birth of Maa Sati appeared in Banaras in the form of a fire flame.
She expressed her desire to go to her husband in the yagya organized by her father King Daksha, But she was not allowed to enter the yagya site. On this, Maa Sati offered water to her soul and burnt her body.
When Lord Shiva came to know about this, he became very sad and he took the body of Maa Sati on his shoulders. And started roaming the whole universe.
Seeing this, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Mata Sati into pieces with his Sudarshan and wherever the body parts of Mata fell, a Shakti Peeth was established there.
Mata’s tongue fell in Himachal Pradesh and Shakti Peeth was established here. This power of Mata is in the form of a burning flame.
Mughal invaders made many attempts to extinguish this flame of Mata but they always had to face defeat.
Once Akbar covered the flames of this Shakti Peeth of Mata with an iron sheet to extinguish the flames but this attempt also failed. Water was also poured to extinguish the flames but all the attempts of Mughal invaders failed.
